BD Alaris Syringe Pump Module

The BD Alaris Syringe Pump module is designed to deliver precise amount of fluids and medication. While the pump module can handle large amounts of fluids, medications, blood and blood products the syringe module uses syringes to deliver exact smaller amounts. You will often see syringe modules used in the NICU, PICU, or other departments where small amounts of fluid or medication is needed.

While the BD Alaris Infusion Pump and Syringe Pump are similar, they differ in how on how fluids are delivered to patients. The BD Alaris Infusion Pump is a Large Volume Pump (LVP) that utilizes IV Bags and tubing to deliver large quantity of fluids. An example of when to use an infusion pump is for a dehydrated patient that needs to receive fluids over a longer period of time in order to stay hydrated. The BD Alaris Syringe Pump utilizes a mechanical plunger to deliver smaller doses fluids. An example of when to use a syringe pump would be for delivering small syringes and small doses to neonatal/small pediatric patients.

The BD Alaris Syringe Pump has a flow rate range of 0.01-999mL/hr for each infusion.

Clinicans can use standard, single-use luer lock syringes with the syringe pump and any extension tubing. Additionally, an IV pole is recommended for use with the BD Alaris Infusion System to keep patient areas clean and tidy. The BD Alaris Syringe Pumps are compatible with standard, single-use, 1-60ml luer lock syringes. The syringe modules has an autodetect barrel clamp and can sense the size of the syringes that have been loaded.
